U9u10u10a ROUND NINE
Was a very successfull weekend for the Club football with Under 11's, 13's, 15's & Girl's Youth recording very strong wins over their opponents leading into the second half of the draw. The Under 9's played a make up game with some Under 10's with some strong play and solid tackles from our young group whilst the Under 10's fell just short (in size and on the scoreboard) against a much bigger Highland Hawks team. The Under 10's were assisted by some very committed young Under 9's who helped out on the day

  Last weekend all grades

Under 10's Swans 6.3.39 defeated by Highland Hawks 7.9.51

Wet Weather Process

The Club has the authority to allow play on the home ground, when they are closed by the Council due to wet weather, provided an AFL Risk Assessment is carried out and found to be acceptable.

Current Wet Weather expectation - Ground Open

During periods of wet weather a risk assessment will be conducted by 6:30pm on the Friday evening prior and the result posted here on the website and on our SMS service by 7pm. Should the ground be satisfactory, but further rain expected, a further assessment may be conducted at 7am on game day depending on the distance to be traveled by our visiting team.

For training a decision will be made by 2pm on the day

The Club also has an SMS wet weather messaging service for when you do not have access to this site. Simply type in ssjafc and send the message to 19922767 and an updated message will be returned to you. This is a premium service that will cost you 55cents for the message

2009 Playing Costs
The costs of participation have been set for 2009. Both Auskick (Under9) and Juniors will have a registration cost of $70. With Auskick the cost includes the Auskick pack provided by the AFL - Details available here

During registration the Club will provide the opportunity to purchase socks & shorts at bulk purchase costs. The prices for shorts and socks are considered bargain prices if you try and purchase locally and was undertaken due to the difficulty obtaining locally and to keep the team presentation uniform for our competition games.

The $70 registration fee covers the cost of League affiliation fees, Insurance, playing guernseys, playing and training equipment and council fees for use of grounds. As an indication the cost per player in 2007 was $79 making the support we receive from our sponsors and our fundraising activities so essential. Please support them whereever possible

Considering playing in 2009
If you’re 5 to 8 years old, you can take part in the Auskick Rookie program. This will help to develop your basic skills and participate in modified games.

If you’re 9 to 12 years old, we’ve created the Auskick Pro program where you can build on your existing skills through games and activities, getting you ready to participate in the Youth age groups.

Playing times are normally as follows with all games played on Saturday except Southern Highland Hawks, Dapto & Port Kembla who play on Sundays
The under 9's and 10's commenced at 8:45am
Under 11's and Auskick at 9:45am
Under 12's at 11:30am.
The under 13's at 12.55pm

Used Playing and Training Equipment

To assist parents with participation costs we have re-introduced our boots barrel again this year. As one of the costly items of playing and the likelyhood that the boots will only fit for 1 year we are calling for any used boots that no longer fit to be donated to the boots barrel so they can be passed on to other players. Likewise if your child needs new boots check with the barrel to see if there is a pair available for you. Should you have any other equipment that you could donate to the barrel please let us know. Offers to donate or requests should be directed to the Canteen Organiser. We would also point out that there are a number of items not collected from the lost property box last year that will automatically go in the barrel unless claimed. Once we have a list available it will be available in the members section of the website
